About Us
In 1945, the Thal Family opened The Epicure Market, the only Prime meat shop on Miami Beach. Butchers by trade, they ran the business with a hands-on approach. The shop gradually added fresh produce, homemade soups and a bakery. After 50 years, the store grew into what is now The Epicure Market, a full-service market, with gourmet foods imported from all over the world.
In 1996, the Thal family retired. The Market was sold to a new and exciting family, The Starkman’s. Ike, Guy and Jason Starkman are the owners, and hands-on proprietors of National Deli Corporation, which includes Jerry’s Famous Deli, The Epicure Market, and the now closed Rascal House.
Since becoming the owners of The Epicure Market, the Starkman family have continued the legacy of the Thal family, with the same homemade style recipes used since 1945. Quality products and ingredients, the focus on customer care and the continual search for new and exciting products continue to keep The Epicure Market at the top of the field in gourmet markets.
The now famous homemade soups, bakery, deli counter and prepared foods are all created in our own commissary, just down the block. Additionally, the prime meat counter, with the award-winning cheese department, high-end wine cellar, and fresh produce stand offer a full array of products to tease and please any palate.
In the near future, the Starkman family plans increasing the number of Markets in the Miami-Dade / Broward county area. The first in line for expansion, is the site of the now closed Rascal House in Sunny Isles Beach. The family plans to open this store in the fall of 2008.
The Epicure Market is known for quality products, friendly staff, and going the extra mile for the customer.
It would be our pleasure to welcome you into our Market, and to help you enjoy the experience that is The Epicure Market.
